Got this done in a few hours, long story short, cos I'm posting from my phone and a very slow computer from my hometown, I'm happy with the results, wore this on Christmas and I also made another garnment which I still have to take pictures of cos I still have to make a frog closure for it, sigh. Oh and I also finished my mom's gift, which was an embroidered fabric covered frame, I'll post pics soonish, I don't think I'll have internet in my new place next week, double sigh.

 Winter is not over yet so I thought I'd try to get some mittens done before Spring comes... I've been looking forward to try some stranded or intarsia knitting, found great patterns at Raverly and after a while of thinking, I chose Variamo, pattern is not a problem (yet?)

I'm in a sort of a color dilemma... I have purple yarn in my stash, it's been there for a while and I've been hoping to find a good use to it.

Now I did, but I also have the same type of yarn in grey and cream, the first looks good with purple but I want to save it for another project with black. I'm still not sure about cream-purple combo though (my cream is kinda yellowish and purple and yellow are complentary colors, that's why I'm not sure about that contrast) but it seems it looks good in Nature, love that first pic in the mosaic, so I might just give it a try and see what happens when both colors are knitted following the chart.

 I just saw this in my Reader... so awesome, although I'm not into gold, so I'd make this in silver, the wings could be made with the metal of a soda can as the creator says, I thought I had an excuse not to make it, I don't have an awl, but sharp nails can be used, no excuses left... this goes on the list.

Fashion Inspiration: Cristina Scabbia

I'm not a fan of Lacuna... I like what they do but I'm not crazy about it.
But I really like Cristina, her personality is great and her taste in fashion is pretty much like mine... I would wear everything she wears, she is not a "pompous (funny word) dress and too much make up" kind of female metal singer, and that's what I like about her... besides the fact that she is Italian and that her skin/eyes/hair are like mine :p

Leather, metal, lace, jeans, black, white, blue, red... love it.

The buttons on the sleeves, I really like that detail, I actually have a jacket made with buttons like those.

I guess her designer and me are soulmates.

I was inspired by this pic to make a dress like this one, I love the effect of the sheer black with a plain fabric... I actually have the fabric to make it, but I've not decided what twist I'm going to give to it, it looks easy though. So far I have the boots and the corset :p

Some random words about Halloween

We don't really celebrate All hallow's eve in Argentina, I say "don't really" because there are some costume parties and some clubs and bars have halloween theme nights and there are some decorations in some shops too. But we defintely don't  go trick or treating.

I had to read about this topic for Language I, I learned a lot about the history, in fact, i didn't know it was pagan/catholic and Irish. But I learned more about the modern halloween from tv/movies, and lots more in crafts blogs.
I think Hallowe'en is interesting, fun and the only occasion where spooky things like spiders, spider webs, bats, and things that are not supposed to be "fun" like tombstones, skeletons, ghosts, witches, zombies, are allowed to be laughed at and played with. I mean, the only month when you can have spider webs in your furniture and tombstones in your garden is October. I think that makes it more... playful?

Actually I have real bats all year... squeaking and flying on my window, it'd be a nice prop if we celebrated halloween :p

Anyways I've never been to a halloween party, for some reason I always have my mid term tests in these weeks :/... such a pitty.
What I want to get at is... halloween would be the perfect ocassion to make and wear a Kitana costume without looking nerdy gamer. These pics are from cosplays... I'm not that videogame lover to dress up in conventions, I mean, I can't imagine myself going to take the bus wearing a night elf costume.

This is my favorite one... the color and fabric are perfect.

Corseted vest!

Wooho I finished this the other day, I'm so happy with the results... although it has lots of flaws but it was going to happen since it's my first try.

Some things I need to keep leveling up:

· Cutting the fabric, I try to be neat but it seems that all my fabric scissors are useless, I've been thinking about buying a rotary cutter, I'd so LOVE to have one.

· Sewing stupid satin bias tape, yes... we met again, I had to use this tape to finish the armholes... since they are obviously round and the fabric wrinkled when I first try to finish them, my teacher told me the satin bias tape would stretch and finish it neatly.

Points to bare in mind for next time:

· The armholes were too wide on the front so I need to modify the pattern.

· The vest was also too big on the sides.

· Use thiner interfacing, which I kind saw it coming but I couldn't find other.

· Change the "homemade ribbon metal ring thingy" for pieces of fabric with eyelets.

· Go back to the basics! yeah, it's incredible, when I was about to give up finishing the armholes we had a black out and I was like, well I'll finish the "gapwhereIturneditrightsideout" and then I just went and finish the ends of the satin bias tape by hand, I wish I knew it before I sew the armholes with the sewing machine, I'd have done it entirely by hand but the thing with this satin bias tape, is that it is a pain to unpick so I left it that way.

About my inspiration, I totally love Sn@tch (virtual shop in a game I (used to) play called Second Life) and Lip Service, the first one I found it by chance and I was very hooked from the first time, it was like someone has made real all the ideas I have in mind or things I would totally like. And about the second one, I don't really remember how I end up knowing about it but it happens more or less the same, I really like some of their stuff, too bad I can't buy them though (It's going to be one of the first places I'm going to visit when I go to the states)

It's kind of funny but they both have the same looks sometimes, I'm not sure if the designers are just one but anyways... they truly inspire me.

Völkerball Richard's coat

So I'm watching Rammstein's Völkerball dvd and I can't help myself... I want a coat like this... so bad!

Shame I can't find more detailed pics... and while I was looking for pics I noticed I'm not the only one who thinks this coat is to drool for. And by the way I'm certainly not a groupie, I'm not the type: "omg XD he touched my hand!!", "he looked at me, HE looked at ME!!!" or "I love you, take me!!!!" or scream when they... do something lol.
Some musicians are hot, hmm Richard is kind of handsome... but it's not like he is going to notice me in all the screaming and sweating mass and propose me, even if he would, I'd say no, I don't like men who wear more make-up and use more hair products than me :)

... Otra vez, me entusiasmé con algo, pero por lo menos es un proyecto corto... y muy util... igual no lo puedo hacer acá porque no tengo la maquina de coser :(

... Again I fell into sin :p, another project BUT this one is a short one, and I'm pretty sure I'll finish it... of course as soon as I go to my hometown where my sewing machine is :/. I love this bracelet, it's perfect for gigs or when I'm around with pants with no pockets and I don't want to carry a bag.
